THE HOOD vs TEXAS

The Austin Chronicle wrote a short piece on The Hood and our third-grade mashup skills. They also included this illustration which is of Britt Daniel as a spoon (GET IT?) and Ghostface as... a face? a mask? We're not really sure. If you have a better interpretation, hit us up in the comments.

Related Hood/Texas content:
Ghosthustler vs Rick Ross - Everyday I'm Ghosthustlin'
UGK vs TV On The Radio - I Was An International Player
Pimp C vs Ghostland Observatory - Pourin' Up Vibrations
The Polyphonic Spree vs Shop Boyz - Get Up And Party Like A Rock Star
Mike Jones vs Air - La Femme D'Monsieur Jones
Lil Flip vs The New Pornographers - My Chips Versus Yours
Spoon vs Ghostface Killah - The Ghostface Of You Lingers
Destiny's Child vs Justice - Lose My Waters Of Naza(b)reath

Um. Is he the dish, perhaps? Is this some weird Disney thing I've never seen?

Good blurb in the Chronicle for you guys.

F their bitchassery. What exactly do THEY consider first rate? Only decent thing outta Texas is Mike Jones, (and some of the girls from out there, and boots, but that's it!) and it's at it's best when the Hood has mashed his music up anygoddamn.

why being so hard on them? they didnt really diss THI, they gave them some nice publicity, end of story. yeah, it is the dish (plate?) and the spoon, like the nursery rhyme. So the joke really works on many levels.

Yikes, I hesitate to even mention that I found out about you through the Chronicle/the article--does it make it ok if I'm a transplanted Chicagoan in Austin? Anyway, very good stuff on here and the songs on the MOMN Myspace. Hopefully you guys have gotten into Waterloo Records and eventually make a trip down here....Smooth
P.S. A dish makes more sense, but at first glance I was wondering why a potato was holding a royal scepter.....

I like how the writer makes it seem like the mash-up scene is shiny and new and somehow Greg created it and blew it wide open. Not to mention that Girltalk has its own style that is less of a straight mash-up in the original sense. So, if that was so true why don’t we see more copycats? The only people that I can even think of that create intricate mash-ups more akin to glitch-hop style “production” are maybe DJ Earworm or Car Stereo (Wars). I think both were doing their thing before Greg got spotlighted.
