THE HOOD INTERNET vs CHICAGO

Here we go: it's the official release of The Hood Internet vs Chicago. We've got 23 completely new jams for you, 24 if you count the intro. Some of the artists on here have been in Chicago for a minute, some are relatively recent transplants, and some have even moved away -- but at one point or another, they called Chicago home. And yes, there are a few cameos from some non-Chicagoans, but seeing as they were already part of the track(s) in question, they're like friends of friends, you know?

I'm hoping the sendspace links have the tracks separated instead of one long mp3 like your other albums, because as one long mp3 it makes things much too difficult to listen to.

I also think that you guys should start using filedropper to upload your stuff. It takes like 3 clicks to upload, then everyone else 1 click to download. filedropper.com.

Either way, I'm fucking psyched to listen to this all summer long.

Yeah hood you got the Megaupload link labeled wrong, that's an mp3 and not a zip. Looks like the rest of em are OK cause I got the 320k version on my zune already.

by the way THIS SHIT IS SO HOT

I Ain't That Bowie = whoooooa

it'll be great, but there's no real need of separating tracks: this is an awesome celebration!

I had a dream last night where there was this guy selling s00per-rare Hood Internet tracks on vinyl, but then he disappeared and I couldn't buy it so I just took it, and later on I was possessed by a demon sword or something and I had to return these Hood Internet vinyls to restore the balance.

Perhaps this was related to the release of the new mixtape? A portent of things to come? I don't know.

I'm just gonna say you guys are awesome for working so hard on dropping new mashups. But choosing to mashup some of the artists (kanye, lupe, cool kids) is a great challenge you have taken upon yourselves because there beats are already so good, and topping that is hard.

you guys are great, but this mixtape is a big let down. All these songs are very bland and boring, try to go for a new sounds. Check out DJ Vibe and Max Barabaria

Not going to lie, didnt catch me the way Mixtape 2 or 1 did. One listen and I took it off my Ipod. I love the recent mixes still but I think keeping it all-Chicago hindered it a bit.

does anybody know which Wilco song is used for "Superbowl Jesus"?

June 1, 2008 4:38 PM
Blogger Jonathan said...

the Wilco song is called "Jesus, Etc" from the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot album

I have to agree that this mixtape was a bit of a letdown, and that it didn't push the envelope as much as the recent tracks have been. a lot of the beats sounded... too safe.

love you guys, though.

The first 38 sec. of the Wilco + Kanye track was so legit! and then you had to go kill it with the novelty superbowl shuffle. i was like "Noooooo" :[

Overall not as strong as past mixtapes, but the fact that they went for a specific theme is admirable. Best tracks: 6,10,12,13,18,24(the hoodinternet continues their track record of masterfully remixing R. Kelly).
