Alex Wiley has been building a strong buzz since early 2012 after delivering stand out guest appearances on Chance The Rapper's 10Day, Kembe X's Self-Rule, and Closed Sessions Vol. 2. Over the last 12 months, Wiley has become a key member of Chicago Hip Hop's youth movement, providing a distinct voice, fierce delivery, and unique sense of humor that has only grown the anticipation for his own proper debut. Wiley's first official mixtape Club Wiley (on Chicago label Closed Sessions) features production and guest appearances from Freddie Gibbs, GLC, Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, Action Bronson, Hippie Sabotage, Chuck Inglish and more. Club Wiley is available for free download now via ClosedSessions.com.
Javelin's new record is called Hi Beams (get it on iTunes). It represents a more holistic approach to writing and recording than previously attempted by the band. Lyrics and vocal harmonies for the first time are foregrounded in decidedly songlike forms. Songs made to be performed in concert rather than as a patchwork of fragmented if glittery shards. The songs cover a broad range of territories: homage to the strangeness of being a performer; encountering beauty & the void in the natural world; how mundane aspects of work/life distract and alienate us from our desires; advice to internet-based musicians; an assurance to someone who has isolated themselves; light, sky, stars, moon; gravity, delivered with levity...
ALEX WILEY celebrates the release of Club WileyTONIGHT at Lincoln Hall in Chicago. The show will also feature performances from ShowYouSuck, Caleb James, Kembe X, Jean Deaux, and Taylor Bennett.
JAVELIN is touring Europe RIGHT NOW and hits the Midwest for a couple shows in July. Dates below, more info at their website.
